A little bit further, a couple years earlier We would have been fine She's feeling mischievous; her face says it's devious Should I show her mine And she said, "Wake up, Richard, it's time to go. There's a couple things I want to show you. Promise me you won't tell anybody else, now, Wake up, Richard, it's time to go." The time that I'd take us, it can't help but make us The worst kind of friends It's not like we're strangers: the thrill of the danger The means to her ends And she said, "Wake up, Richard, it's time to go. There's a couple things I want to show you. Promise me you won't tell anybody else, now, Wake up, Richard, it's time to go." Then came the moment when I knew the time had come and gone Once I realized it was you that wanted me all along You wanted to show me I still can't believe it - how hadn't I seen it? It should have been me When she leaned on the doorway, it was her kind of foreplay I wish I had seen And she said, "Wake up, Richard, it's time to go. There's a couple things I want to show you. Promise me you won't tell anybody else, now, Wake up, Richard, it's time to go." And she said, "Wake up, Richard, it's time to go. There's a couple things I want to show you. Promise me you won't tell anybody else, now, Wake up, Richard, it's time to go."

The rhythm's pumping, gotta follow it I got your medicine, now swallow it And now it's time to forget what you thought you knew What holds you back is so ridiculous All that you've gotta do is stick to us And that's enough for you to change your point of view I know you wanna, I know you wanna You know you wanna, you know you wanna I know you wanna, you know you want it too You're being way to analytical Turn off your mind and use the physical You've never dreamed about the thing that's gonna happen to you, yeah I know you wanna, I know you wanna You know you wanna, you know you wanna I know you wanna, you know you want it too Now in your face I see you're coming round It looks like this might be our common ground I'm so excited baby, I know you are too The rhythm's pumping, gotta follow it I got your medicine, now swallow it And now your chance has come for what you always wanted to do I know you wanna, I know you wanna You know you wanna, you know you wanna I know you wanna, you know you want it too

Wanting You 02:55
If you hadn't noticed by accident I'd still be going on my way I can keep this going as long as needed Day by day Wanting you to be with me Wanting you to somehow see Who can say what will be But I want you, and you want me There's no guarantees in these circumstances People do the best that they can I'm not feeling like I can see the future There's no plan, but Wanting you to be with me Wanting you to somehow see Who can say what will be But I want you, and you want me Isn't it strange how me and you Haven't decided we can do what we want to? After all is said and done this is perfect Living day by day is just fine We already know that there's no such thing as Wasted time, so I'm Wanting you to be with me Wanting you to somehow see Who can say what will be But I want you, and you want me

Like You Did 03:37
Remember, 10 years old, I'd be in your kitchen You'd say, "Try this one-" you always knew just which one I'd help; if something broke, you'd give me another try Evenings, afterwards, you would wash and I would dry, and You (it's thanks to you) never went wrong (So much I learned from you) Though the world (that's what you do) Kept moving on (you make things turn out OK) I'll (remember you) make sure they know (And I'll tell everybody) How to make them like you did so long ago Junior year, I called you for a recipe for dinner You said, "Try this one - it's sure to be a winner!" All my friends could not believe how great it all turned out And all year, afterwards, it was all they talked about, 'cause You (it's thanks to you) never went wrong (So much I learned from you) Though the world (that's what you do) Kept moving on (you make things turn out OK) I'll (remember you) make sure they know (And I'll tell everybody) How to make them like you did so long ago Time has flown so fast - now I've got my own help. I'll say, "try this one," and see you in my grown self My heart is something broke since we said our goodbye But evenings, my little one, I will wash and she will dry, 'cause You (it's thanks to you) never went wrong (So much I learned from you) And the world (that's what you do) Keeps moving on (you make things turn out OK) I'll (remember you) make sure they know (And I'll tell everybody) How to make them like you did so long ago

You say the past is over I sure hope it's true You say that you don't get stuck now Yeah but you do, you do, here's you Clinging like glue, you just had a few Well what else is new? And I don't buy it, that you won't try it I just can't pry it out of you. I guess- It sucks to be you It sucks to be you, if you say so It sucks to be you, must be true Isn't it strangely normal We don't miss a cue You claim that you never cause it Yeah but you do, you do, and you Don't have a clue, though just one or two Is long overdue And I don't buy it, that you won't try it I just can't pry it out of you. I guess- It sucks to be you It sucks to be you, you can't help it It sucks to be you, well boo hoo Give me a break You want to wake me up while I've got the flu For heaven's sake you're selfish You give me the third degree for My point of view You claim you won't argue further Yeah but you do, you do, and you Already blew your chance to undo Your wish to come true And you don't buy it, but I'll sure try it Peace out, goodbye, and just make do if it- sucks to be you It sucks to be you, if you say so It sucks to be you, who knew

If someone offered you a million dollars, Would you have the nerve to take it? If I offered you the gift of my heart, Would you have the nerve to break it? It seems to me we still remember We've got much more than yesterday If something gets to you, don't try to hide it You can cry here on my shoulder Let those tears out; don't keep trying to fight it You don't grow up just by getting older And don't you think we still remember There's so much more than yesterday? If someone offered you a million dollars, Would you have the nerve to take it? If I offered you the gift of my heart, Would you have the nerve to break it?

You got what you wanted And you were undaunted by what they would do Everything your way It's all about you So why aren't you happy? I guess it's a crappy feeling To get some perspective when It's all about you You're desperate to be one As if people even notice They live just to judge you, yeah, right It's all about you Whatever the reason No matter what seems displeasing to you It's not from the outside It's all about you It's not gonna change just 'cause you're changing your haircut It's not gonna change if you pretend even harder It's not gonna change if you can claim your hands are tied It's time for a change but there's no way to convince you That nothing can change from things you've already tried It's not gonna change if all you do is run and hide Let's see if you make it How many mistakes can you hide? You're such a control freak It's all about you Whatever the reason No matter what seems displeasing to you It's not from the outside It's all about you

I guess we could never quite have managed it I'm me, in spite of what you hoped You'll see that soon you will be feeling fine Sign on the line I've found my best way off this slippery slope It's nothing personal It's just the way I am You should be first to know I just don't give a damn If you see no point in being logical I can be the one who makes no sense You tell me you think that we're compatible I'm flattered though I'm more happy living on the fence Now she's the one I learned my lesson from I'm free, and finally the time has come for me to run Thankful those pathetic days are done

I run into you at work, inspiring thoughts of skin contact An illusion of trust, a social contract But that's all it is: only skin deep - it's not real It's not a hot potato, just a red hot peel I've got no intention of anything more than a fantasy Don't even have to mention, I'd never take that action Though that skirt you're barely wearing can be quite a big distraction Sometimes I fantasize what it'd be like to try you on for size I think about a plan, only for fun; dismiss it out of hand Out of hand, out of mind Out of hand, out of mind In your office down the hall you're bending down to sort cases Thoughts are tickling my brain and other places But I shout at them, inside my head, "Just back off!" They tell me I should hurry home and- I've got no intention of anything more than a fantasy Don't even have to mention, I'd never take that action Though that shirt you're busting out of can be quite a big distraction Sometimes I fantasize what it'd be like to try you on for size I think about a plan, only for fun; dismiss it out of hand Out of hand, out of mind Out of hand, out of mind Where does all this come from? Are these feelings necessary? I cover awkward silence, break my stare away, and cough "It's really getting hot in here; I think I'll take my jacket off." I've got no intention of anything more than a fantasy Don't even have to mention, I'd never take that action To you it's just your body, but to me it's such distraction Sometimes I fantasize what it'd be like to try you on for size I think about a plan, only for fun; dismiss it out of hand Out of hand, out of mind Out of hand, out of mind

The first time I've stepped out since they've all gone The neighbors' dried-up pool and long-dead lawn They all talked of hope, but most of them found enough rope I'm searching the streets for survivors The radiation seems to have gone down Inverted silhouettes adorn the town Fifteen months alone, tiny underground room to call home In hindsight I can't see the purpose It's time to go to sleep in my old place I think it's her but can't make out her face I lie down on my bed, the pills roll a fog through my head I'll see you in just a few moments

The board meeting turns to chaos, but don't intervene There's only a dozen doughnuts for feeding thirteen I'm going to take this last one (the jelly-filled kind) "He's trying to pull a fast one - he's out of his mind!" When things get ready to blow, we'll have something to see They're going to put on a show, just for you and me We'll tell him the toaster comes in a waterproof line I just won this brand new free one, so he can have mine You just have to bolt it gently (I'm doing the math) There's not enough voltage entry, so go ahead with your bath When things get ready to blow, we'll have something to see They're going to put on a show, just for you and me A little of each transaction goes in my account A penny, or less than half one, can make quite an amount Some people are super nasty, so just stay alert I laugh 'cause it's funny after somebody gets hurt When things get ready to blow, we'll have something to see They're going to put on a show, just for you and me
